Google Docs invoice template

Reviewed by Clausery editors · · 3 min read

Make an invoice in Google Docs. Fill in the template, share a view-only link with your client, or download it as a PDF to attach to email. Editable directly in Google Drive - no Microsoft Word required.

No sign-up. Editable Word (.docx) or print to PDF. Your answers stay in your browser. Updated .

A Google Docs invoice works the same as a Word invoice, but you edit it in your browser through Google Drive and share a link instead of emailing a file. This template is set up as a .docx that opens cleanly in Google Docs, so you can add your own logo, line items and terms without fighting formatting.

For invoices where you want totals calculated automatically, fill it in on this page first and download the Word file, then upload it to Google Docs to share. The resulting invoice keeps clean headings, a proper table for line items and print-friendly layout.

What to include#

  • Opens directly in Google Docs. Upload the downloaded .docx to Drive and double-click to edit - no reformatting needed.
  • Share as a link or PDF. Send a view-only Google Docs link, or download as PDF from the File menu to email an attachment.
  • Your logo and branding. Insert your logo in the header and set your brand colours using Docs formatting.
  • Editable later. If prices or items change, edit the same document and resend - no need to regenerate from scratch.
  • Works offline. Enable Google Docs offline access to fill in invoices without internet.

How to fill it in#

  1. Step 1: Start the invoice here

Fill in your business, client, line items and payment terms online. Totals and tax are calculated for you.

  2. Step 2: Download the Word file

Click Download Word to get a .docx file with all your answers filled in.

  3. Step 3: Upload to Google Drive

Drag the file into Google Drive or use New > File upload. Double-click and choose Open with Google Docs.

  4. Step 4: Add your logo and polish

Insert your logo and tweak colours or fonts if you want. Check that the totals match your online version.

  5. Step 5: Share or download PDF

Share a view-only link (turn on link sharing and set to Viewer) or download as PDF from File > Download.
