Questions

What should an employee warning letter include?

The facts (what happened and when), the rule or standard it breaks, what the employee needs to do differently and by when, any support you will give, and what happens if nothing changes. Describe behaviour you can show, not opinions about the person.

Does the employee have to sign a warning letter?

No. A signature only confirms they received it, and the letter says so. If they refuse to sign, note the date you gave it to them and who was there.

How many warnings before dismissal?

There is no set number in law in most US states, where employment is usually at will, but many employers use a verbal warning, a written warning and a final written warning. In the UK, following a fair procedure such as the Acas Code of Practice matters if the employee later claims unfair dismissal.

Is it really free?

Yes. The download is free, and filling it in with the Clausery app is free too, with unlimited documents. Library templates never count towards a plan limit, and no account or card is needed.

Is my information uploaded anywhere?

No. Clausery runs entirely in your browser. Your answers and the finished document are created and stored on your own device.

Is this legal advice?

No. These are general samples. Laws differ between countries and states, so have the wording reviewed for your situation before you rely on it.
